Originally hailing from Portishead
- Steve Rothery started mixing over 10 years ago, introducing himself to DJ'ing
by spinning jungle and drum 'n' bass cuts at parties around Bristol and Bath.
By 1996 Steve discovered his true love
of house music which he has continued to mix since then.
Steve successfully ran Fusion in Birmingham from 1997-2001 promoting events and warming up the decks by playing the best in funky house before such names as Brandon Block, Alex P, Sonique, the late Tony De Vit and John Kelly. Steve also started Fusion's infamous boat parties sailing down the River Severn every summer for each seasons finale. Fusion also ran coach trips to some of the best clubs in the country at the time .Ministry of Sound, Cream, Gatecrasher, Turnmills, Passion.
After moving down to London in 2003 Steve sought to establish himself by playing a variety of bar and club gigs, beginning with a 6 month residency for SO.UK in Clapham, he then Dj'd for both Pushca at Egg and Space at Pacha on New Years Eve 2003/4.
Recently Steve has formed a band with another DJ - Matt Sharp, a percussionist - Andy James, and a saxophonist - Chris Norris. Groove Street Solution play a whole blend of funk influenced, disco led house music including chilled and uplifting beats. Groove Street Solution play a once a month at Circle Bar, Clapham North with other gigs to follow soon.
Steve plays every Sunday at Oblivion for the infamous Super Sundays with Steve Butcher and Dan Tickler (Voted No 2 in Metro for "Best Sunday Clubs in London"). Steve has hooked up with Penge Party and has been given the chance to rock their crowd at both 2004 P.O.S.H! parties and also for Penge at Rouge as well as the successful "Up Close and Intimate" nights at the Whitehouse Clapham.
Recently Steve has been involved with promoting for and playing at Funky Love in Balham's newest venue along with Danny Foster, Oli Smiles and Liam D every Saturday starting 26th February.
Playing a mixture of French afro-influenced
house, soulful grooves and funky dirty basslines - Steve is definitely a party
DJ who loves to build his sets up and up until all hands in sight are in the
air and he loves going mental to the tunes as much as anyone in the crowd. He
mixes for love of the music and the buzz he gets from an appreciative crowd
